University of Sussex has sent us another student gem for work experience.
Anna, 19, is studying for her foundation year of social sciences.
It was great to give her a bit of insight into what happens here and the impact of the work we do. With just a little guidance from us, she was off scheduling our social media, writing up webpages and sorting out the photo library.
Here's what she had to say:
“I spent two days in the St. Michael’s Fellowship Streatham office. I mainly assisted Hillary and Sarah, who work in fundraising and communications. They helped me to appreciate how much work goes on behind the scenes at a smaller charity like St. Michael’s! The staff taught me about the different services they provide for parents and children in Lambeth and the importance of maintaining these whilst finding funds, especially during government budget cuts.
I learnt how to operate some of the social media and updated the website; I can now understand how online promotion is vital for successful fundraising and raising awareness in this day and age.
Thank you to everyone at St. Michael’s for providing me with a valuable learning experience, it will help me a lot when going into the charity sector in later life!”
And thank you Anna and good luck with all your studying. We are looking forward to our next student from University of Sussex in the Summer.
