Volunteers for St Michael's Fellowship

If you would like to volunteer for us, take a look at the opportunities below.

Social media volunteers

Social media savvy? We are looking for some social media volunteers to support our communications. We are trying to grow our social media presence and looking for creative ways to do this.

We want volunteers with energy and ideas. By working with us you will get experience of planning campaigns, creating social media content and analysing what works. Maybe you are studying digital marketing or would like experience in the charity sector?

If you have experience of using social media and have a few hours a week to spare please get in touch.

Visually capturing the stories of the people we work with can be difficult because of the sensitive work we do. We are looking for volunteer photographers who could help us tell our story and those of the people we work with.

Ideally you would be able to help us find models and have ideas for locations etc. We are looking for photographers to work on different projects throughout the year.

Donations Coordinators

An eye for detail? Good at bargain hunting? Love Laundry (we know there’s someone out there)? Often on local online parent forums? Organised? If you say yes to any of these then you could really help us out as a donation coordinator.

We need volunteers to help support our different teams.

  • Looking for furniture or much needed baby equipment for families can be time consuming. Volunteer support would mean our already stretched teams would have more time to spend on helping children and their families.
  • We get regular donations of top quality baby clothes from the public and are looking for people with a few hours a month to spare. We need help with sorting, washing, folding and making gorgeous packs up for the young parents and disadvantaged families we work with.
  • If you are online savvy you could also help them reach out to the local community through local forums and help coordinate getting items to the people that need them.

These volunteer roles can be built up around your interests, skills and when you are free.

Why volunteer for St Michael's?

This may be a chance to learn new skills and gain valuable experience. And you'll be helping us support some of the most vulnerable families in the country and make sure that their children are safe. Without our work many families could be separated that didn't need to be.

A lot of the parents we work with have often had traumatic and abusive childhoods themselves or been brought up in care. Our aim to break this cycle and improve the lives of their children. To do this we have to build trust and this takes time, dedication and great skill.

We also work for young parents in South London. These young parents and their children are disproportionally affected by poverty, especially with the capitals high rents and childcare costs. They are also at higher risk of isolation, domestic abuse and mental health issues. Having a trusted professional to turn has the power to really change a young parents and their children's lives.

By volunteering with us you will be supporting this difficult and complex work. Every day we are making a real difference to the lives of the children we work with and their families.

We want our volunteers to feel part of that, you will be able to see the difference your time is making to help us change people’s lives.

You will also be able to meet other like-minded people who are all committed to helping the most vulnerable in society.
